In addition to teaching and research, I am also an experienced cross-cultural government and business consultant, primarily in the field of cultural consulting, leadership consulting, and team building. My clients have included several Major League Baseball teams on their East Asian scouting strategy, and I have written reports for Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, advised national team coaches in a several sports for Japan’s Olympic Committee, assisted producers with television projects for ESPN, and helped source, secure and smooth relationships with Japanese employees and business partners for the electric car maker Tesla Motors, Inc. I also worked for many years as a consulting advisor to the startup non-profit Lead2Play, which offered young Americans greater opportunity to practice leadership through physical activity, and I continue to enjoy my work with Japan Intercultural Consulting, where I facilitate workshops on Japanese business culture for Fortune 500 companies.
