Despite recent movements towards its eradication, corporal punishment remains a widely used disciplinary practice\u00a0throughout the world, more commonly used by parents at home than by teachers\u00a0at school. Corporal punishment has been used in\u00a0Japan for centuries, but it was first labelled \u2018<em>taibatsu<\/em>\u2019 in the Meiji Period.
